The Fair City Singers have now appeared four times on the BBC 1 television series 'Songs of Praise'. Their latest appearance was shown in October 2004 when 18 of the choir were seen singing on a summer day by the Caledonian Canal.

On 21st January 2001 they were seen singing by the side of Loch Laggan and in a local church. This was recorded on a grey cold day in December 2000.

On Sunday 30th July 2000 they played a major part in a special edition of 'Songs of Praise' celebrating the 100th birthday of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. On a sunny 18th June they were filmed at Glamis Castle, her childhood home. The Fair City Singers were proud and delighted to be chosen to take part.

In August 1998 they made their Songs of Praise debut in the harvest thanksgiving BBC 'Songs of Praise’ filmed at Dunkeld , in which ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ proved to be a great favourite. Click here to hear a stereo clip of this song from their CD.

They first appeared in a television broadcast in 1992 at the UK semi-finals of the Sainsbury Choir of the Year Competition. Look closely at the choir to the left of the picture (click to enlarge) and you will see the choir's mascot Beartha the Bee.

They have been heard several times on radio most recently as the chorus in Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

You may not get to be on TV but there is a fair chance of it! It's not quite as glamorous as you might think though. Producing a few minutes of a programme involves a day of sound recording then another day of filming (however cold the weather).

Recording 'Songs of Praise' at Glamis Castle was much better, thanks to the sunny weather. There was even time for some fun between filming.
