In
1991 the Fair City Junior Singers were formed by Marion Neilson
as a training choir for the Fair City Singers. They perform
independently and with the 'big choir'. Here they are on the
big stage of Perth City Hall in September 2004.
Here
they are performing in a summer concert in St Mathew's Church,
Perth.

The
choir develops vocal skills, pitch development and the ability
to harmonise in children aged between 7 and 10 years. Young
singers learn the discipline of working together as a group
and are trained for public performances, including staged
shows.
As many of the young singers will go on to become members
of the Fair City Singers, membership of the Junior Singers
is to be encouraged before auditioning for the older group.
There is a 15th Anniversary Gala Concert organised for September
2004, and it is hoped to have an extra-special junior choir
for this event. See the panel on the right about joining.
Despite their young age the Fair City Junior Singers have
won success and acclaim in their own right. In
1996 they entered the Sainsbury ‘Choir of the Year’ competition
and were honoured by becoming Scottish winners.

As well as their own concerts, often for charity, they perform
jointly with the Fair City Singers and others. At
the FCS Grand Gala Concert in 1995 they put on a ‘Wild West’
show.
They
also stage their own shows like “Rip van Winkle“ in 1995 and
“Goin’ Buggy” in 1998.
