KIMBERLEY BOYLE

Kimberley was brought up in Crieff where she was a pupil at Crieff High School and received flute lessons from local woodwind teacher, Eileen Waterston. In 1999 she was offered a place at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama Junior Department studying with Sheena Gordon. She was awarded the Gilbert Innes Prize for Wind in 2000 and auditioned successfully for a place at the Royal College of Music in London.

In July 2004 Kimberley graduated with a First Class Honours degree from the Royal College. Her flute professors there included Paul Edmund Davies, Gareth Davies, Celia Chambers and Simon Channing. She was then awarded bursaries from the Musicians Benevolent Fund, The Countess of Munster Musical Trust, The Sir James Caird Travelling Scholarship Fund and The Cross Trust, which enabled her to continue as a postgraduate at the College for a further year. In 2005, Kimberley was awarded the RCM Senior Woodwind Prize and achieved a distinction in Orchestral Performance.

Since graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma in Orchestral Performance in July 2005, Kimberley has been performing in and around London as a solo recitalist, orchestral musician and with her wind quartet/quintet, the Dubois Ensemble. She also has a keen interest in education work and is involved in outreach projects in schools as well as peripatetic flute teaching. Kimberley enjoys coming home to play in Scotland and was invited to play Malcolm Arnolds Concerto for Flute and Strings with Camerata Scotland in April 2006 as well as a duo recital appearance in Perth Festival of the Arts in May. Kimberley hopes to establish a career mainly as an orchestral musician and to maintain a regular concert schedule north of the border now that her studies are complete.
